There was stuff to write about but, to be honest, I can't be bothered tonight. And this is probably my last entry for a while, since I need to spend the rest of the week packing all my worldly possessions into boxes. It feels very strange knowing that my house won't be my house in just a few days. I hope the new people look after it; after all, I've spent more than half my life in it and one of my kids was even born upstairs. I could go on.

This is 86 Cherwell, signing off.

Have I mentioned that I like poppies?

Had a call from the people buying my house tonight. They want to complete next week. Now this is a minor problem, since I was reliant on the lack of progress by their solicitor to compensate for the fact that the bank/solicitor has lost the deeds to my house. OK, so maybe I should have mentioned to the buyers that the deeds were missing.

I love the Tour de France. I really do. I watch it on TV every year. I've done so for many years. But I have to state very strongly that Sean Kelly's fucking awful accent is doing my head in. Big time.

The current contents of my fridge are: a tub of sunflower spread, a can of Tetley's bitter (I don't remember how that got there because I don't like Tetley's bitter), a carton of orange juice, a jar of beetroot, half a bottle of milk (I don't drink milk), half a jar of passata, some salad cream and some mouldy pease pudding (I'd forgotten I had that) ... oh, and some of that substance that lives only in the bottom of fridges. I think I need to buy stuff.

A night out in Newcastle involved very nice cocktails, some excellent plans and only one theft ... a pitcher from Gotham Town.

We had a most peculiar, but good, time last night in Sunderland; which included visiting a pub filled with menacing women with very thin legs, large round stomachs and extremely bad singing voices.

I just watched 55 Degrees North. No, not the ex-1960s BT office-block-come-apartments, but the new TV series ... set in Newcastle, with a cockney central character of course. Although the high-level and swing bridges, and the quayside, did feature, it's just another cop show. There'll almost certainly be a high speed chase past the Angel of the North (or is that Ayngewl ov the Nowf?) or the Baltic next week, I'm sure.

Although I do like a night out, I'm not so sure about a night out of this silly duration ... and with my children's partners. Don't they realise that I'm twice their age!? And beer-induced philosophical debates simply do my head in.

And for some reason I've acquired an ash tray from Beach.
