So the van (the old one, not the everyday van) went in for an MOT and service a week and a bit ago.
A quieter, or less noisy, version of the van came back today. Regrettably, that meant that my bank balance is now £800 lighter.
Thinking positively (I try to do that), it’s running well and should make it to Glastonbury next week.
Less positive is the financial impact of 19 MPG.
We made a trip to Leeds the other day, for a gig; Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats.
Unfortunately, the gig was cancelled at short notice due to illness.
With train tickets and a booked hotel, we decided that beer in Leeds was the best option. And at least that meant we didn’t need a dog sitter.
While we didn’t get to a gig, the evening was most pleasant. We even found a bar with a campervan.
The dog had a good time too.
A late decision to go to last night’s Divine Comedy gig proved troublesome when there wasn’t a working card machine at the City Hall. However, all ended well after a dash to a cash machine. And a discount for the hassle.
Unplanned gigs are the best.

Opening a bar is hard work. But, when someone posts something like this, it’s all worthwhile.
It’s been a tough couple of months, but we did it.
We opened a bar.
After a 12 hour day in the (new) pub, I went to work in the Schooner for another 4 hours.
Back in the new place in five hours.
In the Crown, Belfast.
Went to see Idles last night; the third time I’ve seen them live. They have to be one of the best live UK bands right now.
So, I’m not making great progress with the kitchen. I’ve built another couple of units, but can’t put them in place because they’re (deliberately) too high for the existing worktop.
This is the unit meant to hold the washing machine easily the easiest because I didn’t need to add doors or shelves.
Recent delays have mostly been down to my being distracted with the removal of an unnecessary door frame.
And, then, there was the shed. I’ve not taken pictures yet (mostly because we used the shed tonight.
