Long weekends II

Another pretty cool long weekend involved some of my favourite pubs in both Peterborough and Newcastle. Worthy of mention are Charters and the Wortley Almshouses; the latter was visited a couple of times. Oh, and the Ostrich, where we saw a great band on Saturday evening. The following evening involved some truly nice real ale in Newcastle, from Out There, Atom and, perhaps best of all, Cloudwater. All unfined and vegan.

Reinheitsgebot

After a few days with nice, fish and chemical free, beer, it was nice to stop off at a Samuel Smith’s pub (St Mary’s Vaults) in Stamford.

I only had a couple of pints of extra stout, but it was good to enjoy decent (vegan) beer on our return.

Metro

There’s a definite similarity between these Metro stations.

I’d like to think that the Berlin decor has been influenced by its Tyne & Wear cousin. Which, since the same company owns both, that might actually be the case.

One might think that the past few days were spent in metro stations and bars. While that’s partially correct, these were just examples of the kind of pictures taken with my phone.

Bier

I’m sure I’ll say more on the subject, but (with limited data) I have to say that I love Berlin.

Bundestag

Really, not so long ago you could walk in off the street (ok, so the security was a bit tough). Now you have to go through an arduous online booking process.

I know, I shouldn’t leave everything until the last minute.
